Eleaf iJust 2 Sub-ohm Vape Pen Testing and Performance

Eleaf is a quality manufacturer of vapor products and is well-known for their ability to come out with popular products such as Eleaf iStick 30W box mod, Eleaf iStick Pico Baby 25W, Eleaf iCare Solo and many more. This one can be purchased in a starter kit with a battery and charging cable or as just the tank alone if needing a replacement.

I spent a few days with this vape pen and I love the simplicity of it. It is just an easy fill-and-go device. I’m a long time fan of Eleaf products and will continue to be. Here are some specs for this device and an overview of my experience with it.

Build Quality and Design

The Eleaf iJust 2 is a very simple atomizer and looks similar to other sub ohm vapes. It has a nice polished look and stainless steel construction to make it sturdy. It is a nice solid device, feels like a well-made device and I have had no issues with it so far. I do wish they would have made it in a top-fill design but it does make changing your coils easier because you don’t have to drain the tank first.

I do like the large tank capacity in this one. 5.5 mils is a good amount of juice so you can fill it up in the morning and it should last you all day. It is very good for commuting back and forth to work, no need to fill up in between.

Durability/Reliability

It feels very solid and although I haven’t had any occurrences of it rolling off the desk or falling, I think if it did it would sustain very minor damage if any. The glass might crack or break but the rest of the atomizer would be fine. Also to note, it does not include a spare glass tank so be very careful when cleaning.

Ease of Use

The tank itself is super easy to use. It is a bottom-fill design so you do have to unscrew the base to get to the fill ports underneath. I would say that this would be good to give as a gift to new vapers wanting to take the next step in vaping.

Vaping Experience

For such a simple vape pen with no bells and whistles, it vapes extremely well. It produces a good amount of vapor and the flavor is pretty good as well. It’s not amazing flavor like some other sub ohm tanks, but it is good.

Coil changes are easy, just twist off the base and unscrew the coil head and replace it with a new one. It has other coil heads that can be purchased separately and is also compatible with Atlantis coils if the Eleaf coils are out of stock.

There is an airflow control ring that is included for closing off the air. At first, I just thought it was a cool looking vape band until I saw the recessed holes on the base of the tank. It fits on there to let you open or close the airflow since there is no metal ring on the outside. It is easy to grip and turn with the band. This is not a MTL tank and I just left mine wide open because it’s not a crazy amount of airflow anyway.

Another plus for this device is that you can use other tanks with this battery. It is also compatible with Aspire tanks and coils. You can interchange tanks as long as they are within the atomizer resistance range. This adds to the value of the device itself.

Filling

This is a bottom-fill tank so it has to be turned upside down to fill. It has juice ports for filling the tank. I would like to see them change it to a top-fill system because I think the bottom fill doesn’t allow you to fill it to full capacity due to the chimney (air pipe).

Leaking

I had no issues with leaking during testing. Since it is a bottom-fill tank you don’t need to close off the airflow before unscrewing the base.

Cloud

This tank does make some pretty good vapor clouds. It doesn’t have all the features of some of the other tanks but it really does produce a lot of vapor. I used this on my Reuleaux 200W mod at 50W and it performs very well in that range. I prefer cooler vapes so I didn’t try it at 80W. That is just too warm for me and it uses more juice when you run it at higher wattages.

Flavor

The flavor is good in this tank. It is not intense though, a little muted. It is more of a vapor tank than a flavor tank. I would like to see an updated version of this in the future. I think it’s a good tank the way it is but if they updated it with some new features it would be great.

What We Liked

+ Other coil heads available
+ Decent battery life
+ Good vapor production
+ Compatible with Melo, Atlantis and Atlantis 2 tanks
+ Pass-through charging

What We Didn’t

Bottom fill design
Didn’t really like the rubber airflow control ring

Value

I have seen this sub-ohm vape pen listed online for $44.99 on different retailer’s websites. It is a great value for what it is – a simple sub ohm device that you could use for a new vaper looking to upgrade from their standard vape pens and want to try sub ohm vaping.

Final Verdict

The price is affordable and it is a simple to use device. New vapers can get their feet wet in sub ohm vaping without too much technical knowledge. Advanced vapers may find it too simple unless you like the older type devices that you don’t have to fiddle with. It is great for vapers of all levels.
